Recently, I have been exploring adding and manipulating, in real time, layers of sound. Essentially, challenging myself to create a "live" track/recording, one that is complete in and of itself when finished. This track is a product of that effort. It started humbly with a simple guitar loop and morphed into something, sonically, more complex and unpredictable. The unpredictability (the element of surprise) of the live process/processing is another element I have leaned into more since early December and continuing that effort into the new year. On the hardware side, two pedals have encouraged this process—two Chase Bliss pedals: Blooper and Habit. These two have been a joy to play with (I see them as collaborators) and explore their unique sonic possibilities. I look forward to learning and exploring more in this vein throughout the year ahead.
